Students in Mrs. Malone's 6th grade Career Exploration class were visited by Mr. Michael Steinly, who is the father of Harper and Micah. Mr. Steinly is an entrepreneur who is owner or part-owner of at least 6 different businesses. Some of his businesses are Diversified Global Products, Diversified Global Logistics, Diversified Global Information Technology, and Blue Bayou. He treated students to donuts and spent time talking to them about his daily work, all of the options students have for post-secondary education, and staying curious.

Today our 6th grade math students completed a fun math lab that required them to apply the ratio concepts they have been learning in class to make slime. They worked through a series of clues left behind by a mad scientist named Dr Frankenslime in order to figure out the correct amount of each ingredient to create the perfect batch of slime! Math + slime = the best Halloween school day!

Pink Out will be Monday, November 4th and this year we are raising money for one of our own GCSSD employees, Toni Patton, who is currently undergoing treatments for breast cancer. We will be selling t-shirts, sweatshirts, beads, bracelets, sunglasses, socks, leis, and poms with ALL proceeds going directly to Toni Patton and family. Shirt order forms will be sent home today and will be due this Friday, October 25. The other items will be sold at school through Monday, November 4th. Beads will be sold for $1, bracelets for $2, sunglasses for $5, socks for $5, leis for $3, and poms for $2. Again, all of the proceeds will be donated to Toni Patton. The grade level to raise the most money will get to choose a teacher to kiss a pig at the Pink Out game!
