Tonight's 6th grade football game has been moved from a home game to an away game at Huntington. Kickoff is 6:30 PM at Huntington High School.

Candy Fundraiser and Picture Orders
All candy fundraiser money is due this coming Tuesday, October 1st unless you have recently checked out a box. Money for that box is due two weeks after it is checked out.
Also, picture orders are due October 3rd. We will be sending the orders off on October 4th.

Each quarter 7th grade students in Career Exploration are visited by a Tennessee State Trooper. This quarter, we are thankful for Trooper Chris Jones for teaching us about careers in Law and Public Safety, as well as bus and driving safety.











Mr. Mike Pastorious visited 6th grade Career Exploration classes to teach 6th grade students about the many types of careers at Gerdau. Mr. Pastorious is the father of Zoe, who is a student at SGCMS. He is the Routing Mill Facilitator at Gerdau. We are thankful for his visit and the cool sunglasses!







Students in Ms. Sprague's agriculture class worked in groups during a seed identification activity where they made their own dichotomous key to categorize each seed type by its physical characteristics.




Congrats to the softball team for finishing their season 18-2-1. They concluded their season by defeating Gibson County 14-4.

Centennial Bank visited 7th grade students today at SGCMS to discuss “Tips for Success” and “Careers in Financial Institutions. As always, the students were excited to “learn and earn” with dollar bill prizes!!! Thank you to Ms. Renee Morris and Ms. Misty Sharp for reaching out to our community.



SGCMS is celebrating “College Application Month” by dressing up on Fridays, competing in college info trivia, and having special visits from various colleges. Ms. Sinahi Carrizales visited 7th grade Career Exploration classes today to teach students about their study options at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She spent time going over all of the areas of academic study the university has to offer and also talked about fun things like college dorm life and social activities that students can look forward to in their futures.



Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday 9/16 and Tuesday 9/17 from 3:00-6:00pm.

Parents unfortunately over the last two weeks there has been a hoax about a school shooting being sent throughout the country. If you have heard about this today regarding a South Gibson County school please be assured no threat has been made. All students are in class and we are having school as normal.

Mr. Evan Flora from Leaders Credit Union visited our 8th grade Career Awareness classes recently. Mr. Flora, who is a Community Engagement Specialist, took time to help students learn about real life budgeting by going through a Financial Reality Simulation. In this simulation, students were assigned a job, a family, an income, and bills. They were allowed to make choices throughout the “month” to create a budget with the goal of having $100 left over at the end of the month.



Mrs. Malone’s CTE class was visited by Mr. Manny Perez, who is a Learning Specialist at Tyson Foods in Humboldt, TN. Mr. Perez talked to students about careers at Tyson, his background in the industry, and how hard work and perseverance are keys to success. Mr. Perez is the father of 8th grade student, Alana Perez. Thank you so much for making learning about careers exciting and fun!
